COMMENTS
Vimic is essentially a follow-on from Scar The Martyr, but with a new vocalist.
The band's debut album, 'Open Your Omen', was expected to be released in 2018 but was derailed when producer Kato Khandwala was killed in a motorcycle accident. The album was eventually released following a successful crowdfunding campaign that was started several years after Joey's passing. The Vimic 'Open Your Omen' album release party would be held on 03 October 2025 at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles, CA. Support came from Wednesday 13 and special guest drummers.
In the months leading up to the album release party, guest drummers were announced at first via the Joey Jordison Facebook page, but later via the Vimic one. Six drummers were announced, in order: 1. Luana Dametto (of Crypta), 2. Ash Pearson (of 3 Inches Of Blood, Revocation, and Zimmers Hole), 3. Caleb Hayes (the 10-year-old drum prodigy and fan of Joey), 4. Chris Williams (of Accept and Elegant Weapons), 5. Shaun Riekena (of Taciturn and also Joey's brother-in-law), and last but not least, 6. Deen Castronovo (of Journey). Later on via the Vimic Facebook page, Kyle Castronovo (of Wednesday 13) and Kyle Mayer (of September Mourning) appeared in a list of guest drummers, but neither were officially announced like the rest. Two further guest drummers were low-key announced jointly just a week before the album release show, Roy Mayorga (of Soulfly, Stone Sour) and Travis Regnier (of Carcosa, SPITE).
Author's note: Vimic's long-awaited album 'Open Your Omen' was finally released on October 3rd 2025. Note, however, that the songs released as singles ended up being released years before the album, and so appear on the album as updated versions to fit with the direction and production of the band's sound later on. At first listen some of the songs seem to have quite a different sound and vibe, and one could argue that there's probably not really much left of Joey's original sound on the finished product. Also note that in the end there were some 10 guest drummers whose names had been publicized for the album release show, but it's unclear as to how many did actually play. I mean there were only 15 songs on the album in the end and I doubt they played every one, so you're looking at maybe one drummer per song. Nonetheless, it's an honor and a pleasure, at time of writing literally a week after the album dropped, to at last be able to update this page with the full album tracklisting and final details of the album release show.
