The band is affectionately known as 'The Hate', and its fans, 'Haters'.

The band's name came from a hockey game that Robbie Gist (bassist) was at, and the section next to him was very hateful, so he said that section is full of hate. He thought it was a cool name so he named his band Section Hate!

The band's official music video for their song 'Drama Queen' contains live footage of a performance at The Washington bar in Burlington, Iowa, and is directed by Jason Handy of Dead Horse Trauma.

Nate Boyce (Blacked Out World) guest appeared live onstage with Section Hate for the song 'Drama Queen', on 12 July 2014 at Rampage 6 in Hedrick, Iowa.
