Originally the band was called 'The Life I Breathe', and some original members were Austin Reeves (drums) and Gregg Kieler (guitar). After the other guitarist left, William 'Bill' Gray (They Will Repent) joined and that band fell apart, they rebranded as 'Heartland'.

Brad West did vocals when they became Heartland at first, with Bill and Gregg on guitar and Austin on drums. It is believed that originally it was one Jodie Grantham on bass but then Brad switched to bass and Danny Shea joined on vocals before they called it quits.

The only official recording the band released was the song 'Warning Signs'.
